Important Operational Update and Marine Cargo Insurance Reminder

Important Update – Resumption of Suez Canal Sailings

We would like to make you aware that a number of ocean carriers have begun, or are considering, the gradual resumption of selected vessel services through the Red Sea and Suez Canal.

This is a positive development for global shipping, as a return to this routing could offer significantly shorter transit times compared with the longer diversion around the Cape of Good Hope.

However, given the ongoing uncertainties within the region, we would like to highlight some important considerations for all customers.

1. Suez Canal Routing – Please Check Your Insurance Cover

As carriers begin to reintroduce sailings via the Suez Canal, we strongly recommend that all customers contact their marine cargo insurers to confirm that their goods remain fully covered when travelling through the Red Sea and Suez Canal, including any applicable war-risk exclusions, restrictions or additional premiums.

IMPORTANT: If you do not wish for your cargo to travel via the Suez Canal, please notify us immediately, ideally before placing your next booking.

Unless otherwise instructed, we will continue to offer and arrange the available shipping options, which may include vessels routing through the Suez Canal, subject to carrier schedules and availability.

Please be aware that carriers may also amend vessel routings at short notice, so it is important that any specific routing or insurance requirements are communicated to our team as early as possible.

2. Marine Cargo Insurance – Protecting Your Shipments

We would also like to take this opportunity to remind all customers of the importance of having their own comprehensive marine cargo insurance in place for every shipment.

Whilst every effort is made to ensure the safe transportation of your goods, unforeseen incidents can occur at any stage of the shipping process. Carrier and freight forwarder liability is generally limited under the applicable terms and conditions and should not be considered a substitute for dedicated cargo insurance.

Marine cargo insurance can typically be arranged in two ways:

  • Annual Policy: Suitable for customers shipping regularly, providing ongoing cover for eligible shipments under an agreed policy.
  • Individual Shipment Policy: Suitable for customers who ship less frequently or prefer to arrange cover on a shipment-by-shipment basis.

If you do not currently have marine cargo insurance in place and would like assistance obtaining cover for an individual shipment, please let us know. We would be happy to refer you to our insurance provider, who can assist with a quotation, subject to their terms and acceptance.

Our Priority

We remain committed to providing our customers with competitive freight solutions, reliable service and access to the best available shipping options.

As global shipping routes continue to evolve, we encourage all customers to review their insurance arrangements and communicate any specific routing preferences to our team.

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.
