15th September 2026
With China’s Golden Week (1–7 October) now fast approaching, we wanted to send an important reminder to help avoid any unnecessary delays or additional costs to your shipments.
If you have any new bookings or upcoming shipments from China, please send these over to us as soon as possible. Space on sailings around the holiday period is becoming increasingly limited, so early booking is strongly recommended to give us the best opportunity to secure your required sailing.
It is also particularly important that all outstanding commercial documentation and Bill of Lading releases are finalised before the holiday begins.
During Golden Week, many suppliers, factories and overseas agents will be closed or operating with significantly reduced staffing. If documents or releases remain outstanding when the holiday begins, we may be unable to obtain them until businesses reopen.
For cargo arriving into the UK during this period, missing documentation or an outstanding Bill of Lading release could prevent us from completing customs clearance or arranging onward movement. This can result in avoidable delays and potentially additional port rent, storage or other associated charges.
Please therefore treat the following as a priority ahead of 1 October:
- Send us any new China bookings as soon as possible so we can secure space.
- Ensure all required commercial documents are provided before the holiday.
- Arrange any outstanding Bill of Lading releases without delay.
- Check any shipments due to arrive in the UK during or immediately after Golden Week and make sure everything required for clearance is already in place.
Our team will, of course, do everything possible to keep your shipments moving, but having bookings, documents and releases in place before Golden Week begins will significantly reduce the risk of delays and additional costs.
If you have any shipments you are unsure about, please send the details over to us and we will be happy to check what is outstanding.
